Apple reports $95.2 Bn revenue growth in India, plans to open new stores

Apple reported record quarterly growth in India among other countries for its quarter ending March 29, 2025. The company will be opening new retail stores in India starting later this year.

Overall, the company reported a total revenue of $95.2 billion, a 5 per cent year-on-year growth. In the Asia Pacific region, excluding Greater China and Japan, revenue grew by 8.4 per cent to $7.3 billion. In terms of sales, iPhone revenue grew to $7.4 billion, reflecting a 6.6 per cent year-on-year increase.

In terms of tariff impact, Apple CEO Tim Cook said the March quarter had a “limited impact” as the company was able to optimise its supply chain and inventory. However, assuming the current tariff state persists, the company estimated tariff to add $900million in costs.

“What we have learned was that having everything in one location had too much risk with it so we have with certain parts of the supply chain, opened up new sources of supply. You can see that continuing in the future,” said Cook.

Earlier, reports said that Apple plans to shift the assembly of all US-sold iPhones to India as soon as next year, as trade war pushes tech giants away from China. The total sell-in for iPhones in India was 12 million for 2024, as per IDC data. Apple is producing around 40 — 45 million iPhones in India for both local consumption and exports outside of India, amounting to around 18-20 per cent of its global shipments in 2024.

Per the company plans in the earlier quarter, Apple added more languages to Apple Intelligence with its iOS 18.4 software, including localised English to Singapore and India.Other languages include French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and Simplified Chinese,

Cook said, “We set a number of quarterly records in countries and regions across the world, including the UK, Spain, Finland, Brazil, Chile, Turkey, Poland, India, and the Philippines.”
