IEM-Kolkata’s Team Oillovators wins SIGHT 2.0 contest hosted by UST

Team Oillovators from Institue of Engineering and Management, Kolkata, won first prize at the SIGHT 2.0 competition hosted by UST.

Leading digital transformation solutions company announced winners of the second edition of competition for Sustainable Innovations for Growth and Human Transformation (SIGHT 2.0) at its Thiruvananthapuram campus. SIGHT is a technical expo and annual competition for final-year college students at professional colleges across India, a company spokesperson said.

First three winners

Team Oillovators from the Institute of Engineering and Management (IEM), Kolkata, won first prize with a cash prize of ₹50,000, certificates and mementoes. The second prize, comprising a cash prize of ₹25,000, went to Team Seakers from Dr Ambedkar Institute of Technology, Bengaluru, and the third with a cash prize of ₹10,000 to Neo Sustain from RMK. Engineering College, Tiruvallur, Tamil Nadu. Sheffi Anwar, General Manager-Business Operations and Workplace Management, UST,gave away the prizes. 

Promising ideas rewarded

Best from among more than 1,000 entries were selected for the first round, and abstracts were evaluated to shortlist the top 500. The second round narrowed to 280, marking the midway point in the development of respective projects, the spokesperson said. Only 14 of the most promising ideas advanced to the grand finale round, which was based on the innovation and ingenuity of teams.

Wide participation

Sunil Balakrishnan, Chief Values Officer and Global Head of Center Operations at UST said the event attracted interest from 300 professional colleges across India. “It was a joy watching the youngsters push forward creative ideas,” he added.

Participants expressed gratitude for the opportunity to contest at the highest level, highlighting the immense value it has added to their academic journeys, the spokesperson said. For them, SIGHT 2.0 was not just a competition but a platform that empowered them to explore, create, and contribute to a better future.
