Infosys trims trainee roster yet again, lays off 45 more freshers
Following fresher layoffs in February this year, IT major Infosys has let go of about 45 trainees who failed to meet the ‘company standards’, according to sources. Till now, it has laid off around 350 trainees who were unable to clear the training tests.
A mail directed at the discharged trainees stated that they did not clear the “Foundation skills training program” despite the additional preparation time, doubt-clearing sessions and mock assessments.
These trainees will be required to sign a Seperation and General Release Agreement, following which they will be allotted a pay of one month, and a relieving letter.
Infosys also said in a mail – a copy of which was accessed by businessline – that it will assist the ousted freshers with professional outplacement services while they look for other opportunities. The company also offered external training of 12 weeks to prepare for potential roles in the BPM industry, after clearing which they may apply for roles in Infosys’ BPM.
Sources added that this is part of their continued assessment and has affected only a portion of trainees. The company had a little over 3.23 lakh employees at the end of the last quarter.
