More records set on night four in Budapest

The American sensation Gretchen Walsh shattered three more world records at the short-course Swimming World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

In the morning heats, Walsh, competing in her first World Championships in the 25m pool, clocked a time of 53.24. She then lowered it again in the evening semifinals to 52.87.

Just 26 minutes later, the 21-year-old broke the world record in the women’s 100m individual medley final with a time of 55.11 seconds.

Walsh’s fellow American, Kate Douglass also broke a world record to win the women’s 200m breaststroke final in 2 minutes, 12.50 seconds, eclipsing her previous record of 2 minutes, 12.72. Regan Smith added another record for the Americans in the women’s 50m backstroke, winning in 25.23 seconds, breaking the previous record held by Canada’s Maggie Mac Neil.
