Wipro’s lighting business to touch revenue of ₹1,000 crore this fiscal
Wipro’s lighting business, which is part of its Commercial & Institutional Business (CIB), , expects to touch revenue of ₹1,000 crore in this financial year, said Anuj Dhir, Senior Vice-President and Business Head, CIB, Wipro Consumer Care & Lighting (WCCL). ,” he told newspersons on Wednesday.
The revenue growth will be from across various categories, including manufacturing and pharma, he said, adding “We plan to foray in to new categories like sports and airports. Both the sectors provide huge opportunities for seating and lighting.”
MyWiproVerse Chennai
Dhir was in the city to launch MyWiproVerse Chennai, an advanced IoT powered hub showcasing some of the company’s products, including seats, and indoor and outdoor lighting. This was the company’s third such hub after Pune and Hyderabad, and there is a plan to have a total of 15 by next fiscal end, he said.
With more IT companies asking its employees to return to work, Dhir expects a greater demand for its lighting and seating solutions. Post Covid, IT employees opted for work from home. However, in the last year, they have been returning to office, he said.
In June 2022, Wipro created CIB following the merger of its Commercial Lighting and Seating Solutions businesses to offer wider B2B solutions. There is a lot of synergies between the two division as a number of architects, with whom we work, deal with both the sectors, he said.
One lakh customer
Across India, CIB has over one lakh customers, including Boeing, Eicher, Maersk, Mahindra, Welspun World and Torrent pharma, and has done over 25,000 projects.
In Tamil Nadu, the company has illuminated over 700 factories spanning diverse industries. The largest solar panel manufacturing factory in India was illuminated by the company, he said.
The company partnered with major food and beverage giants like Mondelez and ITC ensuring superior lighting solutions. It also executed smart office solutions for global logistics leaders like UPS and MSC Technologies, he said.
“We have an installed base of over 50,000 chairs across offices and industries in Tamil Nadu,” he added.
